Ask your local librarian to order in books in your language from the State Library

Books are a wonderful way to share your language, at home and at your community language school.

Linguist Stephen Krashen talks about how through reading stories to children we promote language acquisition by creating 'comprehensible input' -  the story and the pictures give the child a context that helps them to understand and comprehend even new words and sentences, and this grows their language knowledge and skills.

In NSW the State Library has books in 43 different languages. You can go to your local library, anywhere in NSW, and ask your librarian to order in books for you in your language, and they will get them from the State Library in Sydney at no charge to you - this is a wonderful free service.
