We are excited to share some wonderful news from our community.
Our colleague and friend, Monica Njoroge-Eaton, has been awarded the 2026 Community Languages Teacher Medal, and was recognised at the Premier’s Harmony Dinner this year.
This prestigious award celebrates an outstanding and innovative teacher who inspires students with a love of language, culture, and connection. Monica’s work is a beautiful example of this.
Monica founded the first Kiswahili community language school in New South Wales, creating a space where children can learn language, culture, and connection together. Today, her school supports around 40 students across Newcastle and the Central Coast.
Monica is also a valued member of the Hunter Community Languages management committee. She is an inspiration to our community, and we are so proud of her achievement.
Congratulations, Monica!
